Nicholas Gurik

NICHOLAS ALEXANDER GURIK died January 17, 2013 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan, KS at the age of 40. Nicholas was born on April 3, 1972 in Albany, New York the son of Gene and Linda (Sluyter) Gurik. Nicholas served as a remote operations medic for the Department of Defense and he served three tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Nicholas married Michelle Thomas on December 15, 2012. He was an outdoorsman, photographer, musician, poet, writer and an artist. Nicholas was an uncle to three nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Gurik in 2010. Survivors include: Wife: Michelle Gurik, Wakefield, KS Parents: Gene Gurik and Pansy Beaudoin , Wakefield, KS Sister: Tara and husband, Robert McIntire, Wakefield, KS Sister: Kelly and husband, Sam Cobb, Ozawkie, KS Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 12:00 PM at the Wakefield Funeral Home in Wakefield, Kansas. Burial will be at the Timber Creek Cemetery, Clay County, KS. Visitation will be held on will be held from 10:00 AM until service time Monday at the Wakefield Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the Wakefield Aboretum and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
