NOLA ELLEN MILES died October 13, 2013 at Oakley Place, Topeka, KS at the age of
91. Nola was born on May 4, 1922 in Clay County, KS, the daughter of Hubert and Mary Ellen
(Miller) Fowles.
Nola was raised in Clay County and graduated from CCCHS. She She worked at
Duckwalls and at a dentist's office before marrying Jack Burton Miles on August 30, 1945. They
farmed in the Green and Broughton communities. They moved to Clay Center in 1982 and then
to Topeka in 2009. Jack preceded her in death on February 6, 2012. Nola was a member of the
Clay Center United Methodist Church and E.H.U. and was a former member of the Broughton
United Methodist Church. She is also preceded in death by 3 brothers, 1 sister and a
granddaughter, Kristy Lantz.

Son: Jay and wife Valerie Miles, Colorado Springs, CO
Daughter: Diane and husband Ron Berroth, Topeka, KS
8 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-grandchildren
Brother: Wayne Fowles, Camarilleo, CA
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the United
Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Ryan Lynch.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 10AM until service time at the
church.
Memorials may be made to the Clay Center United Methodist Church and can be sent in care of
the funeral home.
