Nora Marie Goodin (Blanken), 91, Clay Center, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016. Nora, was born November 1, 1924 to William and Clara Meyer Blanken and grew up on the family farm near Palmer, Kansas. She graduated from St John’s Parochial School, Palmer, Kansas. She worked for Boeing, Wichita, Kansas during World War II. Later she worked for the law firm of Anderson and Meek in Clay Center, Kansas. On October 16, 1949 she married Samuel Robert Goodin of Clay Center, Kansas. They farmed together fifty nine years on the family farm, two miles south of Ebenezer Methodist Church. In 2008 they moved to Country Living Place, Clay Center, Kansas and most recently were residing at Medicalodge, Clay Center, Kansas. Nora was involved in numerous church and community activities including Friendship Circle, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Couple’s Club, church choir, bowling, square dancing, and 4-H, athletic and musical activities with her children. She was also an active supporter of Sam’s National Farmer’s Organization (NFO), Kansas Corn Commission, and Farmers Union activities. She loved going to the Clay County Fair, Kansas State Fair, and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. Nora enjoyed attending grandchildren’s musical and athletic activities. Nora is survived by her husband, Samuel Goodin, daughters: Andrea Ewert (Jim), Hutchinson, KS; Diane Novak (Dennis), St. George, KS; Kay Markey (Lyle), Manhattan, KS; and her daughter-in-law Debbie Goodin, Leawood, KS; sisters: Lylah McCosh (Kenneth), Manhattan, KS; Mary Ann Mall, Clay Center, KS; and brother Elmer Blanken, Leavenworth, KS. Her grandchildren are: Rebecca Wade (Bryce), Nathan Ewert (Kathryn), Renee Elliott (Dave), Jason Goodin (Tonya), Sarah and Lane Goodin; Amber and Amanda Markey. Her great-grandchildren are: Evan Wade, Harper Ewert, Landon Elliott, Brittney Bush, and Grace and Grant Goodin. She was preceded in death by her son Bob Goodin, her parents, and her siblings: Clarence Blanken, Wilda Helms, Ernie Blanken, and Lorna Stigge. Nora will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on April 13th, 2016 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 816 9th Street, Clay Center, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Nora’s honor to one of the following: St Paul Lutheran Church, Medicalodge or USD#379 music program c/o the funeral home
