Patricia M. "Pat" Simmons

Patricia M. “Pat” Simmons, 92 of Clay Center, died on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Oakley Place in Topeka, Kansas.  She was born on December 4, 1931 at Fort Riley, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Ellen (Hannan) Jaymes.

Pat graduated from Green High School.  She married Robert “Bob” Simmons on July 8, 1952 in the United Methodist Church in Lima, Ohio.  The couple spent seventeen years of their marriage away from Kansas while Bob was in the U.S. Navy.  Pat spent almost 43 years with Bob before he preceded her in death on January 19, 1995.

She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church.  Pat worked as a secretary and did volunteer work.  She liked to garden and fix hair.  Pat was also preceded in death by her son, Jay; daughter, Pam; her parents; her sister, Leone Powell and her grandmother “Mom”.

She is survived by her brother, Robert “Bob” and wife, Sherry Jaymes of Topeka, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.

Private family funeral services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to CCARE or the Robert R. Simmons scholarship fund and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
