Pennie Rae Cranmer, age 73, died at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, on August 14, 2026. She was born in Clay Center, Kansas to Orrin and Wanda (Long) Fowles on February 28, 1953. Pennie was born and raised in Clay Center. She attended Clay Center schools, graduating in 1971. Pennie then went on to the Manhattan Technical College and earned her degree in bookkeeping. She started out her career working for the local courthouse. She then moved on to doing bookkeeping for a title company and a local tax company. Pennie ended her career working real estate with her parents. She married William Cranmer on May 3, 1980.

Pennie was known to spend a lot of time talking on the phone. She had numerous people that would call just to visit with her frequently. Pennie always made time for chit chat, whether it was on the phone or around town. She enjoyed going to the casino, watching crime and game shows, and jamming out in her car to a mix CD with various artists to include Adele and Ed Sheran. Most of all, she loved her family. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and being a part of any other activities they had. Pennie is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents and one sister Pam Marrone

Son: Joshua (Marissa) Cranmer of Pine Bluff, Arkansas

Son: Jacob (Lisa) Cranmer of Clay Center, Kansas

Son: Jesse (Meliah) Cranmer of Overland Park, Kansas

Grandchildren: Marcus, Chaz, and Cheyanna Brandhorst, Raelynn, William, Jasmine, Joshua James Jr. and Jamie Cranmer as well as one great grandchild on the way

Funeral Services: 2:00 PM Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, KS

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas

Visitation: Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home

Memorials: Can be made to the Pennie Cranmer Memorial Fund to be designated later c/o the funeral home
