Richard Chestnut

RICHARD CHESTNUT died January 29, 2012 at Leonardville Nursing Home, Leonardville, KS at the age of 93. Richard was born on July 21, 1918 in Clay County Kansas, the son of William and Martha (Richard) Chestnut . Richard graduated from CCCHS in 1936. He married Betty Johnson on May 2, 1953 at Viola, Kansas. He was a farmer/stockman in the 4-Mile community south of Clay Center. He was a member of the 4-Mile Presbyterian Church and later the Clay Center Presbyterian Church. He served as an elder for both congregations. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Henry and his sister, Mary Jean Fowles. Survivors include: Wife: Betty Chestnut, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Christine and husband, Jim Brinkman, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Patty Chestnut, Clay Center, KS Son: Mark and wife, Marsha Chestnut, Whitesboro, TX Son: David Chestnut, Canton, KS Son: Arlan and wife, Holly Chestnut, Clay Center, KS Brother: William Chestnut, Jr., Mission, KS Brother: Bruce and wife Lavone Chestnut, Clay Center, KS 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers. Burial will be at the Republican City Cemetery, Clay County, KS. Visitation will be held on will be held from 3-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to may be made to the church or Leonardville Nursing Home sent in care of the funeral home.
