RICHARD "DICK" LEWIS SHEPARD died April 22, 2009 at his residence in Miltonvale, KS at the age of 83. RICHARD LEWIS SHEPARD was born on February 11, 1926 in Miltonvale Kansas, the son of Lafe Ellis Shepard and Ruth Garretson. He was raised in Miltonvale, KS. He served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. After his service with the US Army he worked in Hot Springs, SD, Denver, CO. and Mulvane, KS.. He married Linda Buchanan in 1970 and they moved to Miltonvale, KS., she survives of the home. He was a member of the Miltonvale American Legion, Rapid City Eagles Club and the Southeast Kansas Pony Pullers Assoc.. He was preceded by his parents, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 sister and 2 brothers. Survivors include: Wife: Linda Shepard, Miltonvale, KS Son: Richard and wife Janice Shepard, Duncan, OK Son: Michael andwife Debra Shepard, Hot Springs, SD Daughter: Susie and husband Bruce Clyde, Hot Springs, SD Daughter: Jennifer and husband Ivan Beals, Miltonvale, KS Sister: Ida May and husband Max Reed, Miltonvale, KS Sister: Barbara Maloney, Miltonvale, KS Sister: Helen Kohl, Miltonvale, KS Grandchildren: 12 Grand and 10 Great-grand Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Miltonvale Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mark Surbrook. Burial will be at the Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Friday at Phelps Funeral Home Memorials can be made to to the organization of the donor's choice c/o the funeral home
