Robert Sanneman

ROBERT “BOB” MERLE SANNEMAN, 93 died July 12, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, KS. He was born on August 5, 1920 near Morganville, KS the son of Will and Nora (Bergin) Sanneman. Bob moved from Morganville to near Idana with his family in 1924. He graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1939 and attended Kansas State University for one year. Bob returned to Idana and joined his father in farming. He served in the US Army for 18 months during WWII. Bob was discharged and returned to the farm. On November 22, 1943 he married Edwinna Taddiken. They made their home in the Idana community for over 60 years. Bob was a member of the Idana Presbyterian Church, serving as treasurer for 19 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post #101 for 71 years and served on the board of the Farmer's Union Cooperative, both of Clay Center. In 2006 Bob and Edwinna moved to the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Edwin Cheshier. Survivors: Wife: Edwinna Sanneman, Clay Center, KS Son: Gaylord and wife Janelle Sanneman, Newton, KS Son: George and wife Sarah Sanneman, Idana, KS Daughter: Verlee Sanneman, Topeka, KS Sister: Dorothy Cheshier, Ellensberg, WA Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Idana Presbyterian Church in Idana, KS Officiating the service will be Rev. Scott Lingle and Rev. Judi Stricker. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 3-8 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
