Robert “Bob” Trautwein died October 23, 2009 at His Residence, Clay Center, KS at the
age of 89. Bob was born on September 15, 1920 in Green Kansas, the son of Martin Trautwein
and Grace Appleton.
He grew up on a farm near Green and attended the Woods School. He graduated from
Clay County High School in 1938 and then attended Emporia State University. He served in the
U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Jean Sanneman on October 6, 1946. He worked for W.W.
Smith and Sons, Orr's Furniture City, and Steffen's Floor Covering. He was a member of the
Clay Center United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men's Club, Clay Center Elks Lodge, Clay
Center American Legion and V.F.W. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy, his
parents, brother Wayne and his wife, Fern Trautwein, brother Russell and his wife, Lela Mae
Trautwein, sister Geraldine and her husband, Bill Withrow, and a nephew.

Wife: Jean Trautwein, Clay Center, KS
Daughter: Kathy and her husband, Arnie Knoettgen, Morganville, KS
Brother: Joe and his wife, Phyllis Trautwein, Clay Center, KS
Granddaughter: Tonya Knoettgen, Kansas City, MO
Three Nephews and Five Nieces
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10:30AM at the United Methodist
Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Myers.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Respect calls will be held from 3-8PM Monday at the funeral home.
