Roween Ruth Runnalls

Roween Ruth Runnalls, age 96 died at Memorial Hospital in Abilene, KS on April 27, 2021. She was born December 25, 1924 to John and Margaret (Bletscher) Sheedy in Clay County, Kansas. Roween grew up in the Industry area.  She took teacher training during high school to work as a teacher.  She worked for 3 years at Blackhill School and 1 year at Longford.  She graduated from Longford High School as the Valedictorian of her class in 1942.  Roween married John Runnalls on May 31, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2014.  She waitressed at the Coachlight Restaurant for several years until she was 75.

Roween loved ceramics, gardening, reading and quilting.  She was also a seamstress and a great cook.  She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School for many years.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Eileen Wolf and Glenda Dolton.

Funeral Services: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, KS.

Minister: Pastor Chester Strobel

Burial: Athelstane Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas

Visitation: 1:00 PM until service time at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
