RUDOLPH "RUDY" OARD died December 29, 2012 at Golden Livingcenter, Wakefield, KS at the age of 97. He was born on November 20, 1915 in Longford, Kansas the son of Benjamin H. and Mabel (Kissling) Oard. Rudolph was raised in the Longford, Kansas area. He graduated from Longford High School in 1934. He married Marjorie Cherry on August 17, 1939 in Loveland, Colorado and she survives of the home. He farmed all his life and worked for the Wakefield Grain Elevator from 1952 until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Odd Fellows Lodge and the Lions Club all of Wakefield. He was preceded by 4 brothers, 5 sisters and a granddaughter. Survivors include: Wife: Marjorie Oard, Wakefield, KS Son: Terry and wife Linda Oard, Salina, KS Daughter: Sherry Bergmeier, Wakefield, KS Daughter: Trudy and husband Mick Zurmely, Junction City, KS Sister: Bonnie and Husband Duane Slingsby, Clay Center, KS 9 Grandchildren,18 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Wakefield, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Diana Stewart. Burial will be at the Rose Meron Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Wakefield Funeral Chapel Memorials can be made to Wakefield Museum or Wakefield United Methodist Church
