RUSSELL N. JEVONS died February 17, 2012 at Golden Livingcenter, Wakefield, KS at the age of 93. He was born on September 18, 1918 in Wakefield Kansas, the son of Frank B. and Mary E. (Shivers) Jevons. Russell grew up in the Wakefield Community and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1937. He attended vocational training at McSweeny Technical School in Kansas City, MO. for auto mechanics and then worked for Auld Chevrolet in Wakefield. Russell married Lucile Luttman on October 16, 1943. He served in the US Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 as a B-17 Bomber flight engineer and top turret gunner. Following the war, Russell returned to work at Auld Chevrolet until 1955. He then worked at Ft. Riley as a heavy equipment mechanic until he retired in 1981. He was a member of the Madura Congregational Church, Masonic Fraternity, a charter member of VFW Post #7774, 381st Bomb Group Association and the Air Forces Escape and Evasion Society. He is preceded by a sister, Wilma Jevons. Survivors include: Wife: Lucile Jevons, Wakefield, KS Son: Deryl and wife Linda Jevons, Eagar, AZ Son: Keith and wife Maxine Jevons, Manhattan, KS 3 Grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield, Kansas. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery, Wakefield, Kansas. There will be no visitation. Memorials can be made to Russell Jevons Memorial Fund to be designated later c/o Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
