RUTH ESTHER OBERG, 91, of Clay Center, Kansas died February 21, 2007 at the Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, Kansas. She was born January 6, 1916 in Chanute, Kansas to Lester and Zetta (Loch) Purdy. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1937. She taught at Washburn Rural High School. She married Frank Oberg on August 23, 1938 in Chanute. They moved to Clay Center in 1940. They lived in Connecticut and New Jersey while Frank served in the F.B.I. during WWII, before returning to Clay Center in 1945. Frank preceded her in death on October 12, 2002. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Nea Study Club, PEO, Library Club, PTA, Girl Scout Council, Clay County Arts Council and the Clay County Hospital Foundation, all of Clay Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is also preceded by a great-grandchild. Her whole life was dedicated to family, friends and community service.

Funeral Services: Wednesday,February 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Minister: Pastor Daniel Kline
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation: Tuesday, 3-8 PM at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 5-7PM
