RUTH ALVINA WINTER, 85 died November 24, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene, KS. She was born on April 22, 1928 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Balzaar) Wertz. Ruth was raised in Lincoln, NE. She married Rudolph “Sam” Winter on May 30, 1948. In 1952, they moved to Clifton, KS then in 1955, they moved to the Palmer community and farmed. Ruth was a homemaker and later worked for the Palmer Café. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 8 sisters and a grandson. Survivors: Husband: Rudolph “Sam” Winter, Palmer, Kansas Son: Steve and wife Rannelle Winter, Aurora, Colorado Son: Tom and wife Annette Winter, Manhattan, Kansas Son: Randy Winter, Manhattan, Kansas Son: Scott and wife Bev Winter, Manhattan, Kansas Grandchildren: Ryan and wife, Jenn Winter, Travis Winter, Derek, and wife Jana Winter, Shane and wife, Amanda Winter, Judd Winter, Zachary and wife, Karen Winter, Courtney and husband, Craig Minton, and Jenna Winter Great Grandchildren: Nathan Kalkhorst, Allie Winter, Hailey Winter, Jovie Winter, and Adelaide Minton Sister: Rose Wertz, Lincoln, Nebraska Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the St Paul's Lutheran Church in Palmer, KS Officiating the service will be Pastor Tom Sahl Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery, Linn, KS Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 3-8 PM at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6-7:30PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home Memorials: St Paul Lutheran Church c/o the funeral home
