Shawn Rookstool

Shawn Rookstool, 57 of Clay Center, died on Monday, May 25, 2026 at the Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on May 24, 1969 in Miami County, Kansas, the son of Samuel Robert and Sondra Marleen (Bandy) Rookstool.

Shawn grew up in Riley County, Kansas and graduated from Riley County High School in 1988. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman. After returning from the Navy, he lived in Clay Center, working as a brick mason in the North Central Kansas area and also traveled out of state doing the same work. He was employed by BPW Masonry.

He is preceded in death by He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amanda; 2 sisters, Claudia Cornett and Patricia Cornett and 2 brothers, James Cornett and Shane Rookstool.

He is survived by his children, Sean-Patrick and wife, Xanthippe Rookstool, Hanna and husband, Jason Clayton, Garret and wife, Crystal Rookstool, Kaleb and wife, Haley Hitsman; 8 grandchildren; brother, Robert Rookstool and sister, Linda Olson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 10:30AM until Noon at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.
