Shirley M. Leidig

Shirley M. Leidig died January 29, 2008 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, Lawrence, KS at the age of 85. Shirley was born on February 18, 1922 in Ipswich, South Dakota the daughter of Henry Engel and Clara Meyer. Shirley married Leonard Leidig on April 30, 1948 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1997. She was a graduate of Kansas State University and taught at Wakefield and Clay Center schools. She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Church Choir, Delta Kappa Gamma, Business and Professional Women, and the Library Board. She was also preceded in death by her son, Steven and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include: Daughter: Karen and her husband, Bob Meyer, DeSoto, KS Granddaughter: Lisa Meyer Grandson: Brian and his wife Carla Meyer Great Granddaughter: Avery Meyer Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Glenn Tombaugh. Burial will be at the Bala Cemetery, Bala, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to may be made to the Clay Center or Countryside United Methodist Churches.
