Susan Ensign

SUSAN S. ENSIGN, 72, died December 12, 2014 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas . She was born on February 20, 1942 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Frank and Janet (Hoke) Schmidt. Susan grew up in California and graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale. She attended Glendale Community College. Susan married Lester Ensign on July 29, 1961 and the couple moved to Miltonvale where they farmed. Lester preceded Susan in death on March 1, 1987. Susan also worked at Ray's IGA in Clay Center. Survivors: Son: Stewart Ensign, Topeka, Kansas Daughter: Cynthia Ensign, Miltonvale, Kansas Daughter: Janet and husband, Robert Grant, Storm Lake, Iowa 5 Grandchildren: Grant Ensign, Alison Ensign, Jay Grant, Abigail Grant, and Colby Ensign Brother: Chuck Schmidt, South Pasadena, California Sister: Elizabeth Stacy, San Rafael, California Sister: Sara Schmidt, Berkley, California Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10:00AM at the F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mark Surbrook. Burial will be at 2:00PM in the Sylvan Grove Cemetery, Sylvan Grove, Kansas Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5-7PM at Phelps Funeral Home in Miltonvale, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Susan Ensign Memorial Fund to be designated later by her family and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
