SYLVIA JOY OSBORN died March 11, 2010 at her residence at the age of 68. She was born on May 13, 1941 in New Paris, Indiana the daughter of Jacob and Nellie (DeFouw) Huitema. She was raised in Indiana and Wisconsin. She attended medical trade school in Minneapolis. KS and then worked for Dr. Richard O'Donnell in Clay Center for the next 20 years. She married Larry Stites on April 15, 1961 and they later divorced. She then married George Osborn on December 28, 1973 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2009. She then worked at Kansas State University for 19 years until retirement. She was active with the Clay Center Municipal Band, Relay For Life, Clay County EMS and the Clay County Fair Partnership. She was a member of the Clay Center BPW and the Quilting Guild. She was preceded by one brother and one sister. Survivors include: Son: John and his wife, Deb Stites, Milford, KS Daughter: Toni and her husband, Terry Hoover, Bullhead City, AZ Brother: John Huitema, New Paris, IN Brother: Walter Huitema, Whittier, CA Sister: Marian Hannah, Elkhart, IN Grandchildren: 4 grand and 1 great-grandson Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be The Rev. Susan Sawyer. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Vining, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 17th from 3:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Clay Center BPW, Defenders of Wildlife or any cancer organization of donor's choice.
