VERLA E. CHAPMAN, 99 died May 10, 2007 at Mercy Health Center College Ave Manhattan,KS. She was born August 14, 1907 in Clay County, KS, the daughter Albert and Ada (Drury) Hanson. She married Carl Chapman on March 6, 1926 and he preceded her on March 25, 1979. She and her husband lived in the Wakefield , KS area until moving to Riley in 1952. They moved to Manhattan, KS in 1956 and she worked as clerk for Keller's Department Store in Manhattan. She moved to Clay Center, Kansas in 1993 and later returned to Manhattan in 2001. She spent the past five years at St. Joseph's Village in Manhattan. She was a former member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church and the Riley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Eagles Auxillary of Clay Center. She is also preceded by a daughter Betty, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Memorial Services: Friday, May 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM at United Methodist Church, Wakefield, Kansas.
Visitation: 3-8 PM Thursday at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook funeral home in Clay Center. The family will greet friends from 5-7PM.
Inurnment: Highland Cemetery,Wakefield, KS.
