Viola Lund Thorman

VIOLA LUND THORMAN died July 7, 2009 at in Manhattan, KS at the age of 88. She was born on November 14, 1920 in Riley County, KS the daughter of Manford and Vivian (Dugan) Roberts. She was raised in the May Day Community. She attended Longview school and graduated from Green High School in 1939. After graduation, she taught at Longview for 3 years. Viola married Erwin Lund on May 29, 1940. They lived in Lasita, May Day and Grader communities before settling in the Fact Community where they operated a dairy farm. They moved to Clay Center in 1990. Erwin preceded her in death on January 15, 1994. Viola married Eldon Thorman on July 27, 2002. They made their home in Clay Center. She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church. She is also preceded by a sister, Elva. Survivors include: Son: Gale and wife Doris Lund, Clay Center, KS Step-Daughter: Eileen and husband Ronald Wright, Emp, KS Grandchildren: 4 Grand, 5 Step-grand and 10 Great-grand Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev Larry Myers. Burial will be at the Fancy Creek Cemetery, Green, Kansas immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Flint Hills Christian School c/o the funeral home
