Violet "Vi" Martin

Violet l. “Vi” Martin, 90, died May 5, 2016 at her residence in Chapman, KS. She was born on January 21, 1926 in Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earl and Nellie (Butterfield) Smith. Vi was raised in Denver, CO. She married Malen Powell in 1948, they later divorced. Vi then married James Martin in 1971. They made their home in the Wakefield area since 1974. She was a member of NARFE. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. Survivors: Husband: Jim Martin of Chapman, KS Son: Clinton Powell of Abilene, Kansas Son: Brice Powell of Thornton, Colorado 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield KS. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kent Happel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2016 from 3-8pm at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Chapman High School Scholarship Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
