VIRGINIA "GINNY" BLACK died October 10, 2010 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 72. VIRGINIA "GINNY" BLACK was born on January 30, 1938 in Woodston, Kansas the daughter of Howard Eugene Kurtz and Mabel Carey. She grew up in Geary County and graduated in 1955 from Chapman High School. She worked for Britian Machine in Wichita as a Machinist and for Bluestem Electric in Clay Center as a meter reader. She was a member of the PTA, J.C. Janes and was a Girl Scout Leader and coached softball. She is preceded by her parents. Survivors include: Daughter: Linda and husband Sterling Lamkin, Cedar Park, TX Son: Larry and wife Terri Black, Norton, KS Son: Lyle and wife Carry Black, Clay Center, KS Brother: Donald Kurtz, Burlingame, KS Brother: Robert Kurtz, Gold Canyon, AZ Sister: Wanda Beemer, Appleton, WI Grandchildren: 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Countryside United Methodist Church in Clay County, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Diana Stewart. Burial will be at the Broughton Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 3-8 pm. The family will greet friends from 5-6:30pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Meadowlark Hospice c/o funeral home.
