VIRGINIA C. STRATTON died December 9, 2007 at Village Manor, Abilene, KS at the age of 92. Virginia was born on February 7, 1915 in Olsburg, Kansas the daughter of Guy Carlson and Emma Nelson. Virginia was raised in the Topeka area and graduated from Topeka High School. She worked as a secretary at Capper Publications in Topeka, Chicago and New York. Virginia married Wilson Bill Stratton on October 17, 1935 in Topeka and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1998. She then moved to Concordia in 1947 before moving to Clay Center in 1961. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center. She was also preceded in death by a brother. Survivors include: Son: Bob and his wife, Linda Stratton, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Carol and her husband, Arden Alstatt, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Janet and her husband, Gene Hartman, Abilene, KS Seven Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Officiating the service will be Pastor James Byers. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
