Warren Irwin Charpie, 98 was born on January 19, 1921 near Morganville, KS, the son of Irwin and Laura (Swenson) Charpie. He was baptized on May 29, 1921 at Swedesburg Lutheran Church and was confirmed on October 28, 1934. Warren was raised in the Garfield Center community and attended Johnson and Swedesburg schools. He married Marcene Brightweiser on April 23, 1941. Warren farmed and ranched in Clay County his entire life. Warren and Marcene moved from the farm and made their home in Clay Center in 1972. He was a member of the Swedesburg Lutheran Church, served on the church board, Idylwild School Board and a member of the Farmer’s CO-OP in Morganville and Clay Center. Warren passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at his home in Clay Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in law, Ruby and Lyle Griffiths.
