Wayne L. Fisher, 96, died April 15, 2015, at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, Kansas. Mr. Fisher was born May 17, 1918, in Clay County, the son of E.D. and Carrie Belle (Hahn) Fisher.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from August 1942 until 1945 alongside his twin brother, Blaine, in the North Africa and Italy campaigns. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Wayne married Natalia O'Donnell and they later divorced. He farmed near Morganville for 60 years, moving to Clay Center in 2011. Throughout his life he was fortunate to be surrounded by family and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by brothers Milo and Blaine, and a sister, Ruby Day.
Survivors include a son, Greg, of Sabetha, Kansas, and a daughter, Jayne Cady, of Houston, Texas; grandsons Brandon, Adam, and Aaron Fisher of Topeka, Kansas; a sister, Maxine Meyer, of Smith Center, Kansas; companion, Marilyn Levendosky, of Bellville and daughter-in-law Lori Fisher of Topeka, Kansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Monday April 20th at 11:00AM in Clay Center. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.
Respect Calls will be held from 10:00-11:00AM Monday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Meadowlark Hospice or the Knights of Columbus.
