Wilbur Wayne Chestnut passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2012.
He was lovingly cared for by his wife Faith during his last days here on earth before going to his home in heaven.
Wilbur was born March 25, 1932 in Clay Center, Kansas, but lived in Idana. He graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1950. After serving in the Air Force for 2 1/2 years, he attended Bob Jones University where he met his wife Faith Hays. They were married in California in 1958. They have three daughters Marilyn (SMSgt Bill) Gates of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sharon (Jeff) Jaeger of Kent, Washington, and Linda (Pastor John) Stima of Monroe, Washington and seven grandchildren Katelyn Gates; Jeanne, Jeffrey, Joy Jaeger; and Elizabeth, Emily, Ethan Stima. He is survived by his sister Doris (Leon) Word and his brother Robert (Jean) Chestnut. He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Mary Frances Woodside Chestnut.
Wilbur retired from Northrop Corporation in 1991 after 31 years. He enjoyed collecting clocks, going to air shows and most of all spending time with his family.
He is loved and greatly respected for his quiet, gentle and kind ways, yet with a quick sense of humor. He was a cheerful giver and a faithful, devout servant of the Lord.
Services were held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas on Thursday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be at Republican City Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
