Wilbur Richard Fowles, 89, died September 30, 2019 at the Leonaredville Nursing Home in Leonardville, Kansas.He was born January 28, 1930 in Clay County, Kansas to John and Elenanor (Martin) Fowles. Wilbur was raised on the family farm in Clay County. After graduating from CCCHS he joined the Navy and was a Korean War veteran. Following his service, he worked as a mechanic at the Clay Center Airport, farmed and was the owner and operator of Fowles Locker Plant as well as Fowles Car Wash. Wilbur married Patty Robinett on November 20, 1951. He is a former member of the American Legion, BPOE, and the Clay Center City Council. Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters Survivors include: Wife, Patty Fowles of Leonardville, Kansas Daughter, Judy and husband Ron Hileman of Morganville, Kansas Son: David Fowles of Clay Center, Kansas Grandchildren, Amber and husband Brandon McCoy, Brook VanScoyoc and Danielle and husband Chris Hull and 3 great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be Friday, October 4, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.
