William "Bill" Smoot

William Duane “ Bill” Smoot , 85 died April 14, 2019 in Wichita, KS. He was born on October 23, 1933, in Glasco, KS, the son of Marion Abner and Gertrude Eloise (Howe) Smoot. Bill was raised in the Glasco community and graduated from Glasco High School in 1952. He married Darlene LaVoie on February 13, 1955. Bill worked on a harvest crew, for KDOT and on a construction crew. In 1956, Bill and Darlene made their home in Miltonvale. Bill drove a transport truck and worked at LaVoie Service Station. In 1967, he took a job at Hutchinson Manufacturing and retired in 2002. Bill was a former member of the Miltonvale Presbyterian Church and a current member of the Idana Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother and a great-grandson.

Funeral Services: Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, KS

Minister: Rev. Scott Lingle

Private, family inurnment will be held later

Visitation: Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Phelps Funeral Home
